Scents That Work Well Together

Scents That Work Well Together

Are you ready to take your scent game to the next level? Look no further than the dynamic duo of perfume and lotion. When used together, these two powerhouses can create an irresistible aroma that will leave everyone around you in awe. Whether you're a fan of Victoria's Secret®, Avon®, Betsy Johnson®, or Element Edition®, we've got the ultimate guide to help you smell amazing and feel confident all day long.

Why are Perfume and Lotion the Perfect Combination?

Perfume and lotion are the romantic bond of the fragrance world. While perfume alone can make a statement, adding lotion to the mix takes it to a whole new level. The lotion acts as a base layer, moisturizing your skin and creating a smooth canvas for the perfume to adhere to. This not only helps the scent last longer but also enhances it, encasing you and others around in a pleasing, harmonious aroma, leaving you smelling amazing from head to toe.

Choosing the right perfume and lotion

When it comes to selecting the perfect perfume and lotion combo, it's all about finding scents that complement each other. If you're a fan of Victoria's Secret®, consider pairing their Bombshell™ Perfume with the matching lotion. The floral and fruity notes of the perfume are beautifully enhanced by the lotion, creating a captivating fragrance that will turn heads wherever you go.

For those who prefer Avon®, their Imari perfume and lotion duo is a match made in heaven. The warm and spicy notes of the perfume are perfectly balanced by the lotion, creating a seductive and alluring scent that will leave a lasting impression. To further the scent, they also have a roll-on deodorant, to help keep you smelling aligned instead of pulling you in another direction.

What if though, you only have the perfume, or just the lotion?

Perfume Mixing-Finding the Perfect Pair

Please keep in mind that the following are just suggestions. I have tried these out myself, as I own all of the products listed. (I do not however, own Bombshell by Victoria's Secret® though)

Typically, I do not recommend mixing scents, as it does not always work, and can often times create a displeasing effect in comparison to the scent you want. I feel that the main problem isn't so much as mixing different brands together (although that cannot be a good idea since not all perfumes and lotions are made equal), as it is the actual scent itself. For example, if you use a coconut body wash, do not use a cotton candy lotion and perfume set. That's where a lot of people make a wrong turn. If you can, try to get scents with a complete set: body wash or soap, lotion, perfume, etc. If you can't get the full sets, scent similarities are the best place to start.

From experience, I found that if for example, you have the Imari Perfumed Skin Softener by Avon®, and if you have the Very Sexy perfume by Victoria's Secret®, they work really well together! Imari's warm and spicy notes, set the perfect foundation to take in Very Sexy's sensual and discreet tones, making an unforgettably alluring aroma.

If you have the Rare Pearls Body Lotion by Avon®, you can easily bare it with the body mist and eau de parfum Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. Lovely's spicy, light musky high notes pairs well with Rare Pearl's fresh, creamy and sensual feel provided by the unique blend of rosewood, magnolia and sandalwood. If you're looking for a scent that speaks maturity, and sophistication, while giving you a mystique, then I highly recommend using these together.

Far Way by Avon® in my opinion is on the sweeter, playful side, thanks to the freesia, jasmine, and amber notes. So, I would recommend using Bare Vanilla by Victoria Secret®. It tones down the sweetness while creating a light, low key allure. The scent to many may be unidentifiable, but that's not a bad thing. If, however, you plant to play into the sweetness a bit, then I would recommend using Very Sexy. It surprising blends well. When You're coming, it creates a sweet, cute aroma, and as you're going, you get more of the sensual notes. The cucumber scent from very sexy attaches itself to the florals in Far Away.

One of my personal faves, is mixing Betsy Johnson by Betsy Johnson® with Pearl by Element Edition® (can be found online or at your local T.J. Maxx® or Marshalls®). This creates a cute, clean scent, where it smells as if you fell asleep on a cloud.

Clean First, Layer Later

Before you apply any lotion or perfume, be sure to take a bath or a shower first. That way you remove the previous scent, so it won't mix with the new one.

This is what I do to ensure the scent not only lasts long but works well with my body. WASH. YOUR. BODY. UNTIL. IT. IS. CLEAN. This first step is where so many go wrong, mainly because is not implemented. Here's what I mean: Do not use a scented or perfumed wash or soap right away. The best method in my opinion is to use the Dove Original Soap Bar or Body Wash or any unscented soap to thoroughly clean your body and rid it of any dirt or odors. Exfoliation gloves or towels will come in handy as well. When you finish, the only thing you should smell is skin and water. Next, decide on how you want to smell. For example, let's say you want to smell like vanilla. Use the Bare Vanilla Cloud Wash by Victoria's Secret®. It will not only make you smell amazing, but your bathroom as well. After drying off, we then want to add the lotion. Use the Bare Vanilla Lotion and top it off with the body mist. Also, if you can, try to make sure you use hair products as well as skincare products that are unscented, so that your scent isn't all over the place. For deodorant, I would use Sweet Honesty by Avon. Why? It's mainly because it's more on the neutral side. It's a regular deodorant in my opinion, with a very light scent that does not disturb anything.

Now that you've chosen your perfect perfume and lotion combo, it's time to master the art of layering. Start by applying the lotion to your entire body, focusing on areas such as your wrists, neck, and décolletage. Allow the lotion to fully absorb into your skin before moving on to the next step.

Once the lotion has settled, it's time to apply the perfume. Spritz it lightly on the same areas where you applied the lotion, being careful not to overdo it. Remember, a little goes a long way. Allow the perfume to dry naturally, and voila! You're now a scent goddess ready to conquer the world.

Benefits of Using Perfume and Lotion Together

Using perfume and lotion together not only enhances the longevity of the scent but also provides additional benefits for your skin. The lotion moisturizes and nourishes your skin, leaving it soft and supple. The perfume, on the other hand, adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to your overall look. Together, they create a powerful combination that not only smells amazing but also makes you feel confident and empowered.
